Pointclear communications announces PointClear LCS
The new standard in secure internet e-mail systems For the legal community
MARCH 12, 2001, MOBILE, AL --PointClear Communications introduces PointClear LCS (Legal Communication System), the first electronic communication system designed specifically for the legal industry. In addition to providing a feature set found in no other e-mail client software offering, PointClear LCS ensures secure electronic communication between legal professionals and their colleagues, clients, and virtually everyone else they communicate with electronically. While powerful, PointClear LCS is also very simple to use and has a minimal learning curve, regardless of the users experience level.

At the heart of PointClear LCS is an El Gamal-based 128-bit public/private key encryption system. Embedded into every message sent from PointClear LCS is the senders 128-bit public key. Upon receipt of an e-mail, the senders public key is automatically entered into a database of keys in the recipients system. For those recipients who do not use PointClear LCS, a "Reader/Responder," which allows them to easily decrypt the message and respond with an encrypted message, can be downloaded at no cost. From that point forward, all e-mail between the sender and the recipient can be transmitted securely.

"As with most industries, e-mail is used extensively in the legal industry," said PointClear Communications founder and president, Robert C. Ross, Jr. "However, there are many risks when communicating over a public domain, such as the Internet. There are considerable consequences to having confidential information read by unintended recipients. E-mail piracy is occurring more frequently, and the greatest danger is that it often goes undetected. PointClear LCS not only provides a means of securing the communication link, it is incredibly simple to use and does not require each recipient to purchase equivalent software."

In addition to ensuring secure communications, PointClear LCS also provides a robust feature set which addresses previously unmet needs of the legal community. Users now have access to a powerful, built-in Redlining feature; integrated audio, video and scanning; and automatic filing system that organizes all incoming and outgoing messages; and the ability to have up to 5 independent e-mail accounts active on their desktop at one time.

"No other communication software provides the power and flexibility of PointClear LCS," said Mr. Ross. "Technological advances in communication are happening daily, one-size-fits-all e-mail packages seldom meet the requirements of specific industries, as is the case in the legal sector. PointClear recognizes this shortcoming and has developed a product that will allow attorneys to move forward with these technological advances with the maximum benefits and productivity gains, without risk of breaching security or confidentiality."

POINTCLEAR LCS FEATURES
Encryption PointClear Communications has implemented the most advanced, user-friendly, encryption technology into our e-mail system. By doing so, a single click of a mouse will enable PointClear LCS users to easily communicate securely with virtually anyone in the world. At the heart of this software is an El Gamal-based 128-bit public/private key encryption system. Embedded into every message sent from PointClear LCS is the senders 128-bit public key. Upon receipt of an e-mail, the senders public key is automatically entered into a database of keys in the recipients system. This fully integrated encryption system ensures complete security and privacy between the sender and the receiver.

PointClear Reader PointClear LCS users can now send encrypted messages to anyone in the world. For those e-mail recipients that do not use PointClear LCS, a "reader/responder" can be downloaded at no charge, which will allow them to easily decrypt the message and respond with an encrypted message. From that point forward, all e-mail between the sender and recipient can be transmitted securely.

Redlining Redlining is a built-in feature that was developed for attorneys who need to track and review changes to documents as they are being created. PointClear LCSs redlining feature not only highlights changes and comments as they are made, but it also keeps track of every revision level of the document.

File Cabinet PointClears File Cabinet is a special, time saving folder system designed to keep track of messages by category (i.e. association). The user creates personal nested folders which automatically organize incoming and outgoing messages. The Save in File Cabinet feature plays a major role in this categorization by allowing automatic association of a messages sender with a sub folder in the File Cabinet. The user can select from several options, such as: (1) Treat a group as a single recipient when filing allows a single copy of the message to be filed in a group folder in your File Cabinet, rather than sending a copy to each recipient in the group as in the next option, (2) File a copy of the sent message to all recipients in a group, (3) Prompt me when creating a new folder in the File Cabinet, and (4) Prompt me before automatically filing a message.

File Folder Security For security purposes, sometimes it is desirable to lock certain folders so that only the user can view the contents. File folders are easily protected with a user designated password. File folders anywhere in the hierarchy can be locked.

Anti-Viral Block Enabling this feature (which is the system default) disallows importing executable files (.vbs, .exe, .com) into messages as attachments. (Executable files are the primary source of viruses in the virtual world.) If a message arrives with an attached executable file, the user is notified in the message text that the attached file was suppressed.

Read Receipts Return messages allows users to verify the time and date a message was opened by the recipient(s). PointClear LCS advanced functionality allows the user to specify exactly how time and date stamps are received and accumulated. At the users option, read receipts can be received in a report format. This report remains active indefinitely and shows a list of all recipients and indicates which have opened the message, along with a time/date stamp.

Fully Integrated Audio, Video & Scanning Audio and video are embedded in the PointClear software. Users can create, compress and attach audio, video clips and scanned images with only 4 clicks of their mouse, all within the compose message window. These features are especially useful for those staff members averse to typing, unfamiliar with keyboard functions, or sending a message with a personalized touch.

Simultaneous Multi-User Accounts Provide and visually display up to 5 active accounts, constantly polling POP3 servers, for immediate - real-time - communication.
